A Week At HYC

Hiawatha Youth Camp.
Where I have been residing for the past week.
Cabin #3.
Crammed with 4 bunk beds with paper thin mattresses that turned out unusually comfy.
Always a slight smell of Febreeze on EVERYTHING!
Going to bed at 2 am EST, waking up at 830 for breakfast.
Doughnut Day.....Hoppy[the cook] makes her fried doughy goodness from scratch resulting in the best donuts you will have ever had. No joke.

About 20 hour days, sometimes more. Activity after activity.
Service in the morning about an hour after breakfast. Service at night, right after Workshop.

This expierience changed me so much. It's a Christian Youth Camp and I say that with much pride. The things we do there aren't what you would think. We learn about God and follow him in all we do but the activities aren't ALWAYS "Christian" We have a Mud Pit. Literally. It's a pit on the Waterfront filled with dirt,water....MUD. There are competitions. Farthest slide. Biggest splash. Mud football. Bumbleball. There's also the Obstacle Course and the Amazing Race. There are about 3 places a person can be at freetime[which is about for 1-3 hours 2 times a day].

1-The Sweet Shop.
2-The Rec Hall
3-The Waterfront/Blob

Descriptions:
1-The Sweet Shop-Connected to the Nurses Cabin. The Sweet Shop is a medium sized building with booths and tables and a little counter where you can buy things such as pop, candy, personal pizzas that the fantabulous B-Lo has been preparing. There is also a couple shelves in the corner with games.
2-The Rec Hall- The long building next to the Sweet Shop. Pretty much the main place to be at freetime. There are PingPong tables,Fooseball tables, Bumper Pool,Pool,Shooting Games[Basketball] and couches and chairs.
3-The Wtaerfront/Blob-Obviously, since my sister Linda was the Waterfront director [aka. WaterSafetyInstructor...aka Lifeguard] I have to add this on here. Ever seen that movie Heavy weights? The one about the kid who gets sent to this "fat camp" where they are supposed to lose weight but end up with this pyscho(Ben Stiller) who turns the camp crazy.....You know the Blob in that movie? Well, we have one at camp. A multicolored plastic blowup that you jump onto from a ladder platform in the middle of the water. Then you climb to the end and a counselor jumps on the other end and "blobs" you up about 20 feet into the air, arms flailing until you hit water with a huge splash.....amazing really. =]

Terry Prisk, was the speaker this certain week and amazing. His sense of humor is like no other. He really touches you and his approach is terrific. He also had a knack for making you remember things. He split his sermons up into Witnessing and Hurt among others. While most preachers speak ON passages. Terry spoke out of it. He would take one passage, then tell stories and make points about it. It was like nothing I had ever listened to before.

Oh and guess what? During one of these workshops I talked about before. I learned how to correctly sign the alphabet and sign a song called "Give Me Jesus."

Currents:
Book: Breaking Dawn Stephenie Meyer
Music: Friends Theme Song
Mood: Ehh. Overtired. =/
